My philosophy

I am a dedicated User Experience professional with a strong foundation in media psychology, complemented by expertise in UX research and design. With a PhD in Media Psychology, I bring a unique perspective to the field, blending insights from with practical design principles to create compelling and impactful digital experiences.

Throughout my career, I have leveraged my background in media psychology to understand how individuals interact with and are influenced by digital media. Whether it's analyzing user behavior, conducting research studies, or designing intuitive interfaces, I am passionate about applying psychological principles to enhance the user experience and drive meaningful engagement.

When I first encountered Marshall McLuhan’s work, particularly his famous assertion that “the medium is the message,” it was like a light bulb went off in my mind. Before that, I had primarily focused on the content itself—what users were seeing, reading, or interacting with. But McLuhan’s theory made me realize that the medium through which this content is delivered plays an equally, if not more, important role in shaping user perceptions. It wasn’t just about the message; it was about the entire context that the medium created around that message. This was a profound shift in my thinking, especially as I delved deeper into user experience research.

As I applied McLuhan’s insights to UX, I began to see how different digital platforms and interfaces could drastically alter the way users engage with content. For example, the same information presented on a mobile app versus a desktop website can lead to completely different user experiences, not just because of screen size or navigation but because of how the medium itself influences users’ behavior and expectations. I started to pay close attention to these subtleties—how the design of the medium could evoke certain emotions, encourage specific actions, or even shape users’ understanding of the content. McLuhan’s idea pushed me to think more critically about the role of media in UX design, beyond just aesthetics or functionality.

This new perspective has become a cornerstone of how I approach my work. When designing or evaluating a user experience, I now consider the medium as an integral part of the message. Whether it’s choosing the right platform for a product, designing an interface, or even deciding on the type of interaction that will take place, I’m always thinking about how the medium will shape the user’s experience. McLuhan’s media psychology theory has taught me that every element of the medium—from its physical form to its technological constraints—affects how users perceive and interact with content. This understanding has deepened my ability to create more thoughtful, effective, and engaging user experiences.
